BOOKS (ordered at New Jersey Books ONLY):
Text = Pomeroy, Burstein, Donlan, & Roberts, ANCIENT GREECE: A POLITICAL, SOCIAL, & CULTURAL HISTORY, 2nd edition (Oxford Univ. Press 2008)
All assignments are for the week, not for the individual lecture; it is recommended that you do all the week’s reading prior to the Tuesday evening meeting, since topics discussed will not always follow precisely the order of the assignments.
Text is assigned by Roman-numbered Chapters (I, II, etc.), usually two per week.
Tuesdays will be the heavy-lecturing nights, with essentially two full-length lectures separated by a coffee (etc.) break.
At every Thursday meeting except the Final, some form of video or movie will be shown – even on the evening of the Mid-Term Exam (July 23).
